The Waid and Rosanas story inside delivers exactly the escalating tension an anthology opener should, with the full-color art popping on every page. For a variant cover, Bagley’s piece is just the cherry on top of a solid first issue.
Bagley’s cover art pops way more in person than it did on screen, which sold me instantly. The anthology setup is a nice change of pace, though I wish the first story had a bit more room to breathe before it wraps.
Bagley’s variant cover is the real draw here—crisp, dynamic, and easily the best part of the package. The anthology format with Waid’s scripting is solid, though I wish the debut issue had a bit more heft to it. Still, a nice pick-up for a completionist.
